Tips for making a house a home are in every magazine you can think of. It only takes a little time and effort to make your house your home. You do it by adding your personal touch to the decor. You should really pick out some furniture that you love to sit and lay on, instead of being afraid to sit on it.

Some people have such neat homes, but they look like they are not lived in. Nothing is out of place and there is no place to sit comfortably. It is as if you have entered a palace that is supposed to be seen but not touched.

That is the big difference in making a house a home; you have to make it look like it is lived in. You want to be able to come home and relax and look around and say, “Now this is nice.” Your decor will reflect the mood of the room as well as the mood of the people who enter. Some people just have that knack of making one feel at home, and of course it has a lot to do with the atmosphere that they get from the home. You want to have it cozy and informal where the most traffic is going to be. You may have one room that is the formal room and off limits to the kids and animals. Just because you like to live comfortable does not mean that you cannot entertain those who like things structured.
