There is something refreshing about getting rid of clutter; however, for many people, it is a daunting job. One of the most important things to keep in mind is to not try to get your whole house organized in one day, or even one weekend for that matter. To organize your home and keep it clutter-free takes some thought and determination.
First, get the mindset that you are going to be serious about removing clutter from your home and do what you have to in order to accomplish it. Some people are admittedly pack rats; they like to keep everything and anything because they never know when they just might need it again. That is the primary reason people’s houses get so cluttered.
When you approach removing clutter from your home, you need to ask yourself whether you really need the item. If you haven't used it in the past year, it's probably not that essential. For nostalgic things, use wisdom. If you have space, it's fine to keep it, but you must also question whether you need to keep every little memento. If you feel you must keep it, put it in a storage box in the attic.
When you first begin, choose which room you would like to get organized first. It is good to start with a small room that is not quite as cluttered as the rest. Then do the above mentioned things. Once you know what you are keeping, find a place for those things. Get containers or storage boxes if necessary. Then proceed to the next room, and so on. Once you are finished, you will be surprised at how easy it will be to keep your home clutter free.
